A Special Day of Celebration at Killyhommon PS

19th Jun 2025

Today marked a very special occasion at Killyhommon Primary School as we celebrated the end of the school year with a heartfelt farewell to our P7 pupils and Mrs Gilheaney.

Fr. Cathal led a beautiful Mass in Monea, joined by the entire school community, P7 parents and extended families, and members of our Board of Governors. This gathering was a meaningful way to say goodbye to our P7 children as they prepare to take their next steps.

We also bid a fond farewell to Mrs. Gilheaney, who is retiring after 31 years of service. In a touching address, Mrs. Gilheaney reflected on her time at Killyhommon PS, sharing memories and expressing her deep connection to the school. As a token of our appreciation, the school presented her with gifts that we hope will serve as lasting reminders of how much she is valued and the incredible impact she has made.

Our P7 pupils were each presented with awards that celebrated their unique talents, personalities, and contributions to school life. Back at school, we enjoyed a cup of tea and a special photo presentation showcasing the P7s’ journey through Killyhommon PS.

The day concluded with a special graduation dinner for the children—a fitting end to a memorable celebration.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the entire staff of Killyhommon PS, whose dedication and hard work made today such a meaningful and memorable event for our pupils and their families.
