Outdoor Learning Adventures in P7

22nd Jan 2026

Our P7 pupils enjoyed another successful outdoor learning session this week, filled with teamwork, problem‑solving, and plenty of hands‑on experiences.

The children worked in groups on a range of activities. One group focused on cutting wooden “cookies” for the class. Their aim was to create 14 pieces however this was an ambitious target, but they made an excellent start and showed great determination.

Another group carried out chromatography experiments. We’ll be checking the results tomorrow morning to see how successful their investigations were, though we suspect that a different type of paper might give even clearer results next time.

A third group designed and tested a homemade water filter. After some trial and error, they felt their second attempt worked much better than their first and this shows fantastic perseverance!

The final group explored the water cycle. They created their own mini water cycle model and confidently presented what they had learned to the rest of the class.

Well done to all the children. Everyone learned something new, worked well together, and showed curiosity and enthusiasm throughout the session.
