P1/2 Weekly Round-Up!

16th Jan 2026

This week in P1/2 has been full of curiosity, creativity and lots of hands‑on learning! Our children have been working and learning together through play, showing wonderful teamwork and enthusiasm in every activity. The sandpit turned into a busy construction zone, and the cover (kindly donated by Noel Maguire) stayed put as the rain produced a rushing river! Suddenly we had builders, engineers and safety officers! We made sure to stay “on the job” safely by popping on our bright hi‑vis vests and hard hats before getting to work. What an adventure our construction crew had!

A highlight of the week was making our own snow, which sparked so much excitement. The children explored the texture and tested how it could be moulded.

Inside, P1s also enjoyed getting to know Cuisenaire rods, using them as a fun and meaningful manipulative for number recognition and counting. Through making their own creations the children are becoming more confident with early number concepts in a playful, hands‑on way.

Well done to all of P1/2 for another brilliant week of learning together!
