P7 Roots of Empathy
This month, our Roots of Empathy theme was Crying. We welcomed Baby Annie and her mum, Sarah, for their second visit. The children learned that a crying baby is a baby with a problem and we explored different ways to soothe a baby.
Sarah shared what makes Annie cry (which isn’t much, she’s one of the happiest babies!) and demonstrated the comforting strategies she uses when Annie does need soothing.
We love observing Annie and noting the changes from last month. We couldn't believe she nearly rolled over! We also observed Annie’s temperament traits and discussed how every baby and every person has unique characteristics. The children reflected on their own temperament and placed themselves on a continuum, helping them understand similarities and differences in how we all respond to the world.
It was a wonderful session full of empathy, learning, and smiles!
